Dear Lower Valley Credit Union Member:

Lower Valley Credit Union has proudly served our members and communities since 1952. To ensure that our members have access to the best financial services both now and in the future, our board of directors unanimously selected Self-Help Federal Credit Union as our preferred merger partner.  The merger was approved by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Lower Valley Credit Union’s board of directors and members and became effective on January 3, 2021.

Self-Help FCU is very similar to Lower Valley in values, culture, mission and dedication to best serve its members.  Self-Help’s mission is to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity for all, especially for minorities, women, rural residents, and low-wealth families and communities.  With branches in California and Chicago, Self-Help FCU serves many Hispanic/Latino communities, including immigrants, first-generation citizens, and farm-worker communities. We’re very excited about the opportunity to continue Lower Valley’s legacy of mission-driven service with Self-Help FCU.

The merger will extend additional products and services to Lower Valley members, including mortgages, electronic banking with mobile deposit, and it will enable us to serve even more working families across the communities we serve in the state of Washington with a stronger financial position and network. Please rest assured that even though we have merged, your deposits continue to be insured by the NCUA up to $250,000.

Over the next 12-months, we will be sending you more information about your account and other changes that will enable us to offer you these new products and services. We will be working to seamlessly move your accounts into the Self-Help FCU systems, without affecting the great customer service you deserve as a member-owner of your credit union. Once the changes are complete, we will operate under the Self-Help Federal Credit Union name, reflecting our shared mission to serve our communities.

Thank you for your support of Lower Valley Credit Union; we look forward to serving you in even more ways in the future.  If you have any questions about this change, please do not hesitate to ask any of our dedicated branch staff.
