Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why is Wenatchee Valley Federal Credit Union (WVFCU) wanting to merge with Lower Valley Credit Union (LVCU)?
A: Wenatchee Valley Federal Credit Union is strong in many ways but there are substantial challenges that keep WVFCU from providing the accessibility to a wide range of financial products that its members need and deserve. The credit union’s Board of Directors decided that the best way to continue to serve its members is to merge our credit union with one that is thriving and can offer all of the services that WVFCU currently has, while also being able to provide many more which the credit union’s members may be in need of or desire to have access to.

Q: What does WVFCU gain by merging with LVCU?
A: WVFCU members will gain access to many more products, services, and delivery channels currently offered by LVCU. Please review LVCU’s website at www.lvcu.org for their list of products and services.

Q: If we merge, what is going to happen with the current WVFCU Branch?
A: The existing branch located at 478 2nd St SE, in East Wenatchee will continue to operate under LVCU. The branch will be available to serve your banking needs Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. ATM’s on location will continue to be available for use 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Q: Will LVCU be asking for information via email?
A: Lower Valley Credit Union WILL NOT ask you for your personal identification or financial information via email. If you receive any email requesting information on your account, DO NOT click on any link or enter any of your information, and please notify us immediately at 1-509-836-2188 or email eservices@lowervalleycu.org.

Q: What is going to happen to my Account if the merger vote passes?
A:
After the merger has been completed, Lower Valley Credit Union will begin transitioning your account to LVCU. This migration of your account will occur on November 1st, 2018 and following this transition it may include receiving a new debit card, checks, and a new account number. LVCU will cover all of these transitions with you in detail and all at no cost to you.

Q: Will rates or terms on my current loans with WVFCU change?
A:
Your current loan rate(s) will stay the same, and the term and payment will not change.

Q: What types of deposit products will be available?
A:
LVCU offers a full line of financial products and services, including Savings Accounts, Checking Accounts, Money Market, Certificates of Deposit, and IRAs. For further information, you may access the Account Conversion Chart to see how deposit accounts will change as well as the benefits that are included with the new LVCU account.

Q: How will existing loan payments be made?
A:
After conversion, loan payments can be made at any LVCU branch, including the Wenatchee branch location, or through Online Banking or the Mobile App. In addition, payments can be mailed directly to LVCU at:

Lower Valley Credit Union
900 Yakima Valley Hwy
Sunnyside, WA 98944

Q: What if members have an account at both LVCU and WVFCU? How will they access both accounts?
A:
Current Wenatchee members will have their accounts moved to new accounts at LVCU effective November 1st, 2018, however they will not be combined into their existing LVCU accounts, if applicable. Each account created will have a specific account number, and each member whose account converts into an LVCU account will receive a specific member number, attached to their account and compatible with LVCU’s system. Please take a look at the Account Conversion Chart to see how deposit accounts will convert and the benefits that are included with the new LVCU account.

Q: Will WVFCU members keep their existing account number? If not, when will that change?
A:
WVFCU members will receive new account numbers, to be compatible with LVCU’s system, and these new account numbers should be used after the conversion date. The conversion date is set for November 1st, 2018. In the interim, we will ensure that your outstanding checks and automated payments will post to your current accounts accurately.

Q: How will the merger affect our direct deposits and withdrawals? Do members need to take any action?
A:
WVFCU members will be able to use their existing checks and WVFCU account number for automated deposits and withdrawals prior to the system conversion date of November 1st, 2018. LVCU will provide all WVFCU members with updated account information to share once the legal merger has been complete. A “Leaf-er” packet with the new account details will be mailed in October of 2018.

Q: Will WVFCU checks still work? When will WVFCU members receive new checks from LVCU?
A:
Yes, your checks will continue to work up until the system conversion on November 1st, 2018. WVFCU members will eventually need to replace their existing checks with new checks. Once the conversion is complete and you are given a new account number, you will be able to request new checks that associate with that new account information.

If you have WVFCU checks, bring those into an LVCU branch before February 1st, 2019, and we’ll give you one free box of LVCU checks. Your current WVFCU checks will continue to work with your current account through November 1st, 2018. However, they will no longer be recognized and will be automatically returned after November 1st, 2018.

Q: Will WVFCU credit and debit cards continue to work? For how long? When will WVFCU members receive new credit and debit cards from LVCU?
A:
WVFCU members with debit and/or credit cards will receive replacement cards in the mail throughout the year of 2019, after WVFCU accounts are converted to LVCU accounts. The conversion date is set for November 1st, 2018. Existing debit and/or credit cards will continue to work up until your cards are replaced in 2019. New LVCU cards should be activated once received, and used thereafter. LVCU will send more information to WVFCU members with specific details following the conversion date of November 1st, 2018.

Q: Does LVCU charge fees?
A:
LVCU is committed to providing outstanding financial services and products. Our fees can be found within our account disclosure listed on our website at www.lvcu.org. In order to stay strong to this commitment, we regularly evaluate our fees to ensure that our fees and service costs are balanced and that they are comparable or less than other financial institutions. A fee schedule will be included in your “Leaf-er” packet, scheduled to mail in the month of October. Detailed information can be found at our branches, by calling 509-836-2188, and/or emailing eservices@lowervalleycu.org.
